Writers Bio

Along with acting, Ella Johns is also an aspiring writer for the stage and screen. Her most notable production was for the Junior League of Alabama, where she wrote and produced a play about the sex trafficking super highway that leads from Birmingham, AL to Atlanta, GA. This play was performed and instrumental in convincing 31 municipalities to join the fight against human trafficking. Ella’s plays have been read and performed at both the Alabama School of Fine Arts and Syracuse University. Many of her plays explore the lesbian experience, specifically in the south, and her play my lover and mary jane was recently published in the 14th issue of Fleas on the Dog, found here. She was also named a top five finalist in the Sidewalk Film Festival’s Sidewrite Competition, was accepted into the New York Theatre Festival, and was a selected project at the Widescreen Film and Music Festival.
